Dear Friends,
Soon we will all gather with our families to celebrate Seder night. While reading the Haggadah, we encounter the son who does not know how to ask. His inability to ask can be interpreted simply – a child who is too young to ask questions; but it can also be a child who lacks the ability to ask, especially the ability to request the fulfillment of his own needs: a child who needs help. The commandment is clear: "At petach lo" – open the door before him. It is our duty, the ones who have the ability, to clear his path.
Yad Rachel is continuing our duty of serving hundreds of Israeli children and opening the door for them, even though the difficulties may seem to them a dead-end road. We help them overcome their obstacles and take that extra step forward, whether the obstruction is language and learning difficulties, social difficulties or distress at home. Our programs locate the source of their hardship and seek the best way to overcome it.
Thanks to your support Yad Rachel serves over 2,000 children and their families in a variety of therapeutic-educational programs, enrichment programs and family treatment. Children who at the beginning of their journey were frightened and introverted today smile and are happy. They have discovered an inner source of strength and their confidence in their own abilities has grown. I want to thank you, our loyal friends, who make it possible each year to give so much to the children who need it.
Wishing you and your family a happy Pesach!
Yours,
Sara Weil
