"Everyone must know and understand that within them a candle burns, and no two candles are alike… And no-one is without a candle...
And every man must know and understand that he must strive to show his light to the world, and let it blaze for the whole world to see"
Abraham Isaac Kook
Dear Friends,
We are in the midst of the holiday period – celebrating Hanukkah and anticipating the beginning of a new year. For me, Hanukkah always reminds me of the miracle of the burning lamp: a small amount of oil was enough to light the temple for eight days. The candle represents light, warmth and hope. In these harsh winter days we all need a reminder that the darkness will pass and the light will shine stronger.
When we face children at risk as the children attending Yad Rachel, we must remind ourselves that darkness sometimes takes over their lives. If we manage to light their lives even for a short while, that light may give them hope and sustain them during difficult times.
I want to thank you for helping the children of Yad Rachel banish some of the darkness that surrounds them. Your generosity is translated into action as we reach out to disadvantaged children in Israel.
Wishing you and your family a joyful Hanukkah and a happy new year,
Yours,
Sara Weill, CEO
